Saudi Visa Photo Requirements: One File, Every Application

Three separate applications, three separate portals, and — once you line the specifications up side by side — one photograph. The Umrah visa, the Saudi tourist eVisa and the Nusuk platform all ask for a 200 × 200 pixel image on a plain white background with your face filling 70–80% of the frame. What differs between them is the file-size allowance, and only one of the three is genuinely tight.

Nusuk — the strictest

Umrah visa

Saudi tourist eVisa

5–100 KB — far more generous than Nusuk, but note the floor: a file can be too *small* here. Neutral expression, no smiling, visible chin to crown and ear to ear. Full requirements.

The only figure that varies is weight. A photo built for the Nusuk 18 KB ceiling sits inside the eVisa 5–100 KB window and satisfies the Umrah visa at the same time — provided it does not fall below 5 KB, which is the one direction the eVisa cares about and Nusuk does not.

Shoot for the strictest, not the easiest
Build the file to Nusuk’s 18 KB ceiling. Prepare it to the eVisa’s looser 100 KB instead and Nusuk will refuse it — the reverse never happens.

Match your passport photo
Formal attire, consistent with the image already in your passport. Nusuk checks this explicitly and it is the rule least often mentioned elsewhere.

Frame tighter than feels natural
Face at 70–80% of a square frame, eye line in the upper third. All three specifications agree on this, and arm’s-length photos never reach it.

Do the Umrah visa, Saudi tourist visa and Nusuk all use the same photo?

Which specification is the strictest?

Nusuk, by a wide margin — 18 KB against the eVisa’s 100 KB. That is the number to design around. Everything else about the three specifications is effectively identical.

Can a photo be too small for the Saudi eVisa?

Yes, and this catches people out. The eVisa states 5–100 KB, so there is a floor as well as a ceiling. A heavily compressed file that satisfies Nusuk’s 18 KB limit can land under 5 KB and be refused by the visa portal for being too small.

Do I need a different photo for Hajj?

No. Nusuk applies the same personal-photo specification to Hajj and Umrah applications alike.
